More American Tourists Than Ever in Málaga

Málaga has become a favorite destination for American tourists, with more visitors than ever before. According to the latest figures from Málaga City Council, 6,355 tourists from the United States booked hotel stays in the city during November last year. Only British and Italian tourists outnumbered them during the same period.

"For several months throughout 2024, American tourists ranked among the top three most frequent visitors. We've never seen this before," says Jacobo Florido from Málaga City Council.

This trend has surprised city officials, who anticipate an even greater influx of American tourists in 2025. "This year, we’ll have year-round direct flights to New York, but we also see that many travelers from the U.S. are willing to make stopovers in countries like England, Germany, or France to reach Málaga. We’re very pleased with this development," says Florido.

The city’s tourism representative is confident that the growing number of American tourists will benefit not only Málaga but the entire Andalusian region. However, the data reveals that American visitors typically stay in Málaga for only two to three nights on average, which presents opportunities to promote longer stays and experiences across the region.
